I was looking for a New Year’s writing resolution of sorts and this Vonnegut quote popped out at me:
“Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
It reminded me of one of my other favorite writing quotes, which isn’t about writing stories at all:
If I could stick my pen in my heart
And spill it all over the stage
Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya
Would you think the boy is strange?
Ain’t he strange?
So I’m determined to update this site once a week (after a January vacation; already compromising) and post a new story every month this year. I may not be that good in all of them, and I may be strange, but at least I’ll be more frequent, eh?
